Following on from the announcement of their new album Fantasy, Lightning Dust have released a new video for latest track ‘Diamond’. The lead track off Fantasy recalls some of the most brutal truths about relationships, including the seemingly never-ending echo of emotional torment upon dissolution; love, it stains.

In the video for ‘Diamond’, directed by Helen Reed, an aquatic facility is full of young people enjoying a soak. One by one, a small group of synchronized swimmers emerge. In ‘Diamond’, relationships end up being as emphemeral as a performance – “nothing’s promised or ever guaranteed to last.”

Fantasy, the new record from Lightning Dust (Amber Webber and Josh Wells of Black Mountain), will be out on Jagjaguwar on June 24th in the UK. Fantasy is Lightning Dust’s third proper full-length album, and it finds its inspiration in skeletal synth pop, modern R&B beats, the films of John Carpenter and – in accordance with Lightning Dust’s only longstanding rule – absolute minimalism.
