DIIV-Doused

DIIV is the reverb infused guitar pop project of main man Zachary Cole Smith, member of Beach Fossils. ‘Doused’ is a single off their album Oshin released on June 26th. Compared to the rest of the melancholy songs on Oshin, ‘Doused’ is a more energetic than others such as ‘Follow’. The jangly guitar riffs are quite catchy and lively. The vocals are very drowsy and in an interview with DIIV Zachary Cole Smith admitted to not having any real lyrics for the song for about 6 months, and when they played the song live he would mumble nonsense into the microphone. This can be perceived as being plain lazy or a part of the bands ‘don’t give an f’ attitude. After a while the exaggerated reverb guitar sound can get quite boring throughout the album. Though we think ‘Doused’ is one of the better tracks from Oshin and you should definitely give it a listen.
