Grizzly-Bear-Yet-Again

It sounds like Shields is going to see Grizzly Bear step away (a little bit) from the experimental yet precise indie-pop of Veckatimest, and inch slowly toward a more liberated sound, with some influences from the rock spectrum. ‘Yet Again’ is by no means generic. Utilising the unique vocal style of Ed Droste, combined with more aggressive instrumentals from Daniel Rossen, Grizzly Bear refuse to be confined to a singular genre. While the band have clearly progressed since Veckatimest, this track is still unmistakably the efforts of the guys who bought us ‘Ready, Able’ (for which, incidentally, there is an awesome stop music video), and ‘Two Weeks’.

‘Yet Again’ is the second track released ahead of the launch of their long awaited fourth album in September. ‘Sleeping Ute’ features some incredible glockenspiel work, stripped back and simple Grizzly Bear at its best. Juxtaposed with the rich layers, rocky drum bear and guitar riffs which weave together to create ‘Yet Again’’s rich soundscape, expect an expanse of song writing finesse from the upcoming Shields.

The album art is a bit lovely, and Shields is available digitally, on CD and vinyl from 17 September (18 September in the USA) through Warp.
