It’s very tempting to write something witty or snide about Justin Vernon’s recent Grammy win for ‘Best New Artist’, a mere 5 years on from the release of his first, but there’s nothing that hasn’t already been said by hundreds of far cleverer people than me. Frankly, I prefer to celebrate the fact that an artist that I love dearly has been given the critical acclaim he deserves, and I’m sure a healthy boost in album sales with it. Just like in 1999, when Belle & Sebastian upset Pete Waterman (boo!) so much by beating Steps to ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Brit Awards, it was a victory for the good guys and as far as these major awards go that doesn’t happen very often and should be rightly celebrated.

Back to the music, the latest release off last year’s self-titled album is ‘Towers’, and the team that produced the video for ‘Holocene’ are back with an equally gorgeous 5 minutes of cinematography to feat your eyes and ears on.

‘Towers’ by Bon Iver is out now on Jagjaguwar at all good record shops.
