The-Heartbreaks-Polly

Fellow fans of The Heartbreaks, remember when you first played their debut album, Funtimes, and wondered how on Earth the Morecambe four-piece could have possibly chosen which songs to release as singles from the flawless track list? Well, they somehow managed to narrow it down. Indie pop’s latest sing-a-long hit, ‘Polly’, will be released on 3rd September, becoming the second single to be taken from ‘Funtimes’. It is now available for pre-order.

But we’re not just getting another single, oh no. There’s a video to go with it (see below). Lead singer and guitarist, Matthew Whitehouse, stars alongside Eve Kondras, drummer Joseph Kondras’s sister, in a portrayal of the pain and longing behind the new single’s anthemic lyrics.

One minute, the video’s in colour and Matthew is floating about a bedroom, looking rather troubled and mysterious. The next, it’s in black and white, Matthew’s had a quick outfit change, and the whole band can be seen performing ‘Polly’ enthusiastically. It’s a very pretty affair. There’s no need for an overly extravagant production because the song speaks for itself, and the band hit the nail on the head with the understated but charming visuals.

The Heartbreaks are also set to play some shows and I would highly recommend going down to at least one of them and having a good old dance and a sing-song. If you think the album sounds good, then their live performance will blow you away. Seriously, they’re magic.
