Crystal-Castles-Wrath-of-God

It took me a while to really get Crystal Castles. In fact, it took until I witnessed them live on the Crystal Castles II tour that I got round to understanding their debut LP. Whilst they were once principally the soundtrack to a terrifying 8-bit trip however, nowadays they present something far more resonant. From their second album it was clear that Alice Glass and Ethan Kath had legs as a musical duo, and weren’t going to fade into obscurity like so many other ‘scene’ acts. Well, those legs are now outstretched and more defined than ever. ‘Wrath of God’, the newest single from forthcoming release Crystal Castles III, is a more sedate affair than the name might suggest. It’s not quite the club banger that ‘Baptism’ proved to be, nor does it have the impact of other recent release ‘Plague’, but it’s nevertheless a shimmering example of dance music at its best
