Last year Theme Park (London based three-piece made up of twin brothers Miles and Marcus Haughton, and family friend Oscar Manthorpe) supported Bombay Bicycle Club, recently completed a headline tour, and are set to be warm up act for Bloc Party in October.

Miles has previously stated that Theme Park like “combining something with an immediate aural impact, a hook, a nice chorus, with a more quirky, a little less obvious side.” Nearly a year after the release of their debut single, ‘Jamaica’, with its calypso beat and catchy riffs, certainly delivers.

An undeniable summer tune, the video for ‘Jamaica’ harks back to a properly laid back decade. Set in a 70s apartment, the boys are looking dapper in retro suits. While Miles strolls through the frames, entering a party involving limbo dancing and dominoes, before checking his sideburns in a bathroom mirror next to a couple of ladies having a chat in bikinis, the gang are portrayed sedately jamming in a bedroom with a cat.

It just works. The video suits the song so completely. It’s the only track we can think of that makes us want to sit down and play dominoes in the 70s. It’s probably down to that pattern carpet/peeling wallpaper combination.
We’d quite like to hear the album now, thanks.

‘Jamaica’ will be released on 7” and digitally through Transgressive Records on August 13th.
