What better way to celebrate and to reflect the sheer brilliance of Florence and the Machine’s newest track, ‘Shake It Out’, than with an equally stunning video. Starting modestly – with delicate shots of Florence’s pale skin, perfectly painted nails and jewellery – and with sophisticated outfit choices, the singer-song writer’s new video depicts utter decadence and beauty. After the first verse, however, the video swiftly descends into more familiar, chaotic and sinister scenes of violence and energy, with appropriate wardrobe changes from full-length golden gowns, to red and black dresses accompanied by rather unnerving masks. At nearly five minutes, the video is relatively long, but even if Miss Welch isn’t your cup of tea, the video is definitely worth the watch.
