Scoundrels

Louisianan styled, London band Scoundrels were the first band we managed to catch at Sound Control. Personally we adore this band’s music, It doesn’t really fit into the stereotype of music we usually find ourselves listening too, however they seem to have accumulated a massive amount of my own iTunes plays so they must be pretty listenable eh?

Sound wise this band are top, all their songs are so well structured and stay true to their Louisianan roots. Our personal favourite song they played was ‘Bon Temps Rouler’ off their new EP Sexy Weekend, it was lively and the crowd’s people were dancing and having fun throughout it.

We love this band, even though we’re not usually head over heels for things out of my typical ‘indie/alternative’ playlists, make sure you check out their releases, they’re crazy good.

Pulled Apart By Horses

We only managed to catch about half of this set as we had to leave the drums and get to a different venue for it. Pulled Apart By Horses are one of Leeds’ finest musical groups. Walking into the venue we were met by a very excited and extremely energetic crowd matched with a large, bright and similarly energetic band. We really enjoyed the part of the set we saw, the band was fantastic and the venue was small enough for the gig to be really intimate. We’re looking forwards to seeing them again, this time we’ll make enough time to catch the entire set!

The Drums

Again we only managed to catch half of The Drums set so that we could grab a listen to Pulled Apart By Horses at a different venue. The Drums attracted a massive crowd, who were already dancing, chanting and singing before they even appeared on stage. As soon as they arrived on stage the whole crowd broke into screams and dancing. Johnny Pierce’s stage presence was phenomenal, his dancing was fantastic to watch and easy for the crowd to copy. The half of the set we caught was super energetic and fun to watch, we’re looking forwards to seeing a full UK tour so we can see a full set.
